On March 24, 2020, the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) announced the release of $100 million in fiscal year 2020 COVID-19 funding for community health centers (CHC). The awards range from approximately $50,000 to more than $300,000 with an average of approximately $70,000 per health center.

CHCs should track expenditures for the COVID-19 grant funds separately from expenditures related to other HRSA grant funds. Health centers will be issued a notice of award for the COVID-19 grant funding that will be separate from the award for the CHC grant (93.224/93.527). The funding will be for a 12-month period and is available for immediate use, including pre-award costs permitted for COVID-19 prevention, preparedness and response-related expenses dating back to January 20, 2020.

To expedite the distribution of the funding, HRSA is making the funds available immediately. However, it’s still important that CHCs develop a budget and determine the activities/costs that will be supported by the funding. Please refer to your Notice of Award for this grant for specific terms and conditions.

HRSA will host two sessions to help you develop your COVID-19 activities, budget, and budget narrative to respond to the COVID-19 Response Reporting Requirement. One on April 8th and one on April 17th.
